I just read an article from NyTimes.com entitled The Truth About What Your Business is Worth. This thought provoking article, written by a business broker, talks about the value gap, the gap between a small business owner’s perception if the value of his or her business, and a buyer’s perception of value.

This article talks about that a downer it can be to have a frank conversation with a business owner about the value of his or her business, something I have definitely experienced.

However, a real understanding of the value of your business can be the key to unlocking greater value by taking concrete steps to improve the value of your business and coming closer to realizing your goals.
